Synopsis:
Poor planning has put you in a tough situation: your spacecraft is nearly out of power and an abandoned derelict freighter is your only chance for survival. Can you overcome the tricky obstacles that await you and collect enough power to make it out alive?

Note from the developer:
I am obsessed with platformers and the minute details of how they control and I wanted to create a game that features the things I love most in the genre:
- a focus on exploration in a large non-linear world
- simple and intuitive controls that are hard to master
- movement that highlights both momentum and pixel precision
I spent countless hours hand-crafting challenges and tweaking the physics for this game until they felt perfect to me, and I hope you enjoy what I've created.
– ❤️ gate
Features:
- Over 500 screens to navigate and explore in a large contiguous world
- Learn mechanics and controls through intuitive gameplay -- no explicit tutorials or unnecessary hand-holding
- No permanent upgrades: objectives can be tackled in any order, gated only by your improving skill as a player
- Tons of optional secrets and collectables. Retrieving them all will be a challenge, even for platforming experts
- In-game hint menu and assist options for players that want more help or guidance

Saw a review of the game and really wanted to play it. I am sure it is good but sadly it crashes on my computer.
First I run the Linux-version (in Debian) and it crashed. Then decide to run the Win-version through Wine. It crashed at the same spot. Just as I was pressing jump. I saw one jump frame then crash.
Linux-error: Illegal instruction
Windows-error: Segmentation fault
Anyone else had this issue? Is there a workaround, like disable some audio or something?
If you open a command line and run the program with the following arguments, does it run correctly?
--rendering-method gl_compatibility
If so, maybe I can look into packaging a shell script or something in the folder to run with that option.
Additionally, do you see a godot.log file in ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/LuminousTreeGames/Derelict/logs? If the command line argument doesn't fix it, that may have some data in it that might help me debug your issue.
the argument made it work! Thanks!
Honestly one of the best platformers I've played in years. I'm playing it on on a little handheld and it works a treat. The level design is consistently great, and I can't get over how deep (but still intuitive) the movement mechanics are. Wonderful game, highly recommended
yeah it works really well on handhelds and the steam deck i think!
I bought the game on Steam. it crashes as soon as it launches... very sad about it. I really want to play this
if you check %APPDATA%\LuminousTreeGames\Derelict\logs did it leave a godot.log file? if you could copy the contents of that in to pastebin and link it here or join my discord (linked on this page) and DM it to me i could try to root cause the problem.
if your hardware is pretty old, it may be that you don't meet the minimum requirements for Godot 4 and in that case i won't be able to do much. but i won't know for sure until i see your log file.
How did you make the aesthetics of this so good?
Environmental Station Alpha
This is an amazing platformer!! One of the most satisfying movement systems to master I've ever seen in a game! I've just finished it, but I feel like there's still a bunch of challenges I COULD attempt and I'll definitely come back to it to see what else I can find (when my fingers stop hurting).
thanks for the high praise! really glad you enjoyed it!
Great game! You've designed the screens very well. The feel of the game gives me a combination of ESA space station vibes and Celeste level precision trickery.
I'm only 4 hours in and only got one of the power packs. The game is much bigger than the power packs just for the collectibles. It's important to reiterate that there are no upgrades - some areas of the map looks like they require an upgrade to reach a collectible but re-reading the description is greatly helpful in reminding me that the only gate there is just me.
